The sixth release from DJ Knetter Gek on his label, Select Recordings. Vice 54 features three tracks that lovingly channel the neon & strobes ethos reflected on the dance floors of the 70s & 80s, intermingling & filtering them through the distinctly Gek perspective. The opening track, Chicka Picka, kicks it all off with a simple yet immensely groovy riff atop a heavy kick drum, solid bassline & layered guitars. The second track, Violinse, continues to build upon the foundation funk of Chicka Picka, heading soundly into peak time territory with classic disco percussion elements, funk 101 bassline & liberal dashes of audio candy for blowing minds on club systems & headphones alike. The final track, Vice 54, brings it all home, hands in the air, with a swelling crescendo of strings, big disco drums, 80s detective film basslines & just the right splash of airy guitar flourishes.
